Get Rid of Dark Under-Eye Circles with THIS Dermalogica Product

So it’s first thing in the morning, maybe you’re having a busy week at work or at home, you’re not sleeping as well as normal … you look in the mirror and what’s staring back at you? Dark under-eye circles. Suddenly you don’t feel as confident to face the day. At Jersey Beauty Company, we want you to feel confident in the skin you’re in, and to have healthy skin.
ANYONE can have dark under-eye circles. Most celebrities wake up and see the same thing staring back at them. They just have a make-up artist on hand to hide them before that photograph you see of them is taken.
Dark Under-Eye Circles affect all skin types and ages. You aren’t alone.
At Jersey Beauty Company, we know, from chatting to customers like you, that dark under-eye circles are an area of concern for a lot of people.
So, Dermalogica have a new product, Dermalogica’s Stress Positive Eye Lift for exactly this issue. Now, we know stress isn’t the only reason for dark circles, but is a big contributing factor!
So Dermalogica have created the Stress Positive Eye Lift that they say can help to visibly reduce the skins of stress on the skin under your eyes. We chatted to Dermalogica skin therapist Emma about stress, your common eye concerns and how Dermalogica’s new product can help you and whether it really is the best for dark circles.
How Does Stress Affect Your Skin?
So first things first, skin therapist Emma points out that stress isn’t just a negative word. We can be stressed from a positive event too – in fact, some of us thrive on pressure. You may be going through naturally stressful situations, starting a new job, a house move, caring for young children or other dependents. Whether the source of your stress is negative or positive, the result on your skin is the same!
Stress can do a number of things to your body, which have an effect on your skin.
- Disturbed Sleep Pattern – they call it beauty sleep for a reason! Disturbed or not enough sleep affects your skin. The optimum time for your skin to rebuild and repair its cells is while you sleep, so when your sleep is affected you will likely see that reflected in your skin

- Paler skin – your body is super clever – when you’re stressed, it goes into a bit of a survival mode. More of your blood is directed towards your main organs, where your body needs it most. This can leave your skin looking drained or paler. This can make dark circles seem more prominent.

- Poor diet – we’re all guilty of neglecting a healthy diet when we’re stressed. When we don’t get the right nutrients our skin needs, we will start to see the effects.

What are the main concerns for our under eye area?
We put the four main concerns we’ve got from chatting to you to skin therapist Emma:
- Dark Under Eye Circles – lack of sleep and hyper-pigmentation can heighten the appearance of dark circles.
- Eye Bags / Puffiness – as we age, our skin naturally starts to sag as we produce less elastin and collagen that acts as a natural filler for the deeper layers of skin. Now ageing is totally natural and at Jersey Beauty Company, we embrace it! But we want to help your skin be the healthiest it can be. And eye bags are often a sign of dehydrated skin. As is puffiness. When fluid starts to pool below your lower eyelid area, you can end up with that puffy eyed look. It sounds backwards, but this is actually often a sign that your skin is dehydrated. Yes, there is fluid, but that isn’t a sign of hydration.
- Wrinkles – whatever you choose to call them, laughter lines, crows feet… wrinkles and fine lines are also a natural part of the ageing process. We want you to feel confident to embrace your ageing skin. We also know that deeper wrinkles, especially around the eye area, are a sign of dehydrated skin and so by improving your skin health, you will naturally see a reduction in the appearance of those wrinkles around your eyes.
- Dry Skin – the area around your eyes has less layers than the rest of your skin. That’s why it has a different appearance. It looks more translucent often. But it also means that it is prone to getting dry, reddened and irritated. This is aggravated if our eyes are tired and stressed and rub our eyes a lot.
So how does Dermalogica’s Stress Positive Eye Lift help with the effects of stress on the skin around your eyes?
Emma told us all about five key ingredients in the product that make it best for dark circles and your other eye concerns:
1. Tephrosia Purpurea (wild indigo) seed extract
- What is it?
This rather exotic sounding seed extract, Wild indigo, is a native Indian plant used in the Ayurvedic tradition for it’s anti-inflammatory properties.
- What concern is it good for?
Under-eye dark circles
- How does it work?
It helps brighten skin by increasing under-eye luminosity, improving skin tone and visibly reducing under-eye dark circles.
2. Maris Aqua (sea water) extract and Hydrolyzed algin (arctic algae)
- What is it?
Enriched seawater found within theproduct helps improve your skin’s barrier, for protection against environmental stressors (like the sun, pollution and air conditioning.) Arctic algae are a humectant or conditioning agents, which are derived from the arctic.
- What concern is it good for?
Eye bags and puffiness
- How does it work?
Together, these two ingredients provide toning action to help combat the formation of wrinkles and heavy bags. In addition, they help improve skin firmness under the eyes, smooth fine lines and reduce the volume of sagging under-eye bags and puffiness.
3. Hyaluronic Acid (for Wrinkles)
- What is it?
A bit of a miracle cure for dehydrated skin – it can hold up to a 1000 times its weight in water. Your natural levels of hyaluronic acid decrease with age, resulting in drier, thinner skin. The blend of hyaluronic acid found in Stress Positive Eye Lift contains hyaluronic acids of various molecular sizes that work to provide exceptional hydrating benefits.
- What concern is it good for?
Wrinkles and fine lines
- How does it work?
The smaller hyaluronic acid molecules penetrate further into the skin to improve moisture levels while the larger molecules stay near the surface, forming a protective film that decreases transepidermal water loss. Add to that antioxidant power, enhanced skin elasticity and strengthening of the skin barrier for an overall lifted effect.

4. Saccharomyces Ferment Lysate Filtrate (Fermented Yeast)
- What is it?
It sounds weird but it’s fermented yeast, which is manufactured in a lab using fermentation biotechnology (simple put, the yeast is fed a nutrient essential for its development.) This ingredient is helpful for firming and hydrating skin to help generate a lifting effect, as well as protecting the skin’s barrier integrity.
- What is it good for?
Dry skin
- How does it work?
Fermented Yeast protects skin lipids, which are critical or proper functioning of the skin’s lipid structure. It ensures our skin is packed with goodness, it also locks in moisture to make skin feel smooth, with fewer fine lines.
5. Diglucosyl Gallic acid (for brighter skin)
- What is it?
Apart from a tricky word to say, Diglucosyl Gallic acid is a posh name for a type of molecule that brightens hyperpigmentation –one of several factors that can contribute to the appearance of dark circles under the eyes.
- What’s it good for?
Amazing, brighter, healthier skin
- How does it work?
This molecule (Diglucosyl Gallic acid) gives your skin all the antioxidant power of vitamin C and is 60 times more efficient than other skin brightening substances available on the market like hydroquinone.

So is it right for me?
At Jersey Beauty Company we pride ourselves on offering you all the information you need to choose the right products for your unique skin. We don’t believe in a once-size-fits-all skin care regime. We know that at different times in our lives, our skin has different needs.
That said, some products are great for all skin types, as part of a unique skin care regime. Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift is one of those products! As we said at the start dark circles can affect anyone.
Three Steps to Applying the Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift
To get all of the amazing benefits from this product, there’s a specific routine for this product. It’s a mask so you don’t have to remove the product either - it just stays on your skin, adding goodness.
- First - Apply - You want to apply the product on cleansed skin. Starting on the right eye, generously apply 6 dots of product. 3 above the eyelid and 3 under the eye. Leave for a few minutes.
- Second - Lift and Energize - Press and lift up at the inner, centre and outer corners of your eyebrow.
Hold each lift and glide between lifts. Continue to glide gently under your eye, back to your brow. Repeat all movements 3 times on each eye. - Third - Brighten and De-puff - Gently circle under eye, from the outer corner to the inner corner. Glide back toward the outer corner. Repeat this movement 3 times on each eye.
