There's an absorbent inner layer and a hidden waterproof layer that's made from the same breathable PUL which makes our nappies so popular.
The poppers mean your pads stay firmly in place so that slips and leaks are a thing of the past.

It's estimated that the typical woman uses more than 11k feminine hygiene products in her lifetime. The plastic in a pad will take hundreds of years to decompose, not to mention some end up blocking our waterway systems and the cost of 11k products!
The simple answer is, YES....
If you suffer intense pain during your period and are using disposables, reusable sanitary pads are definitely worth considering. Disposable pads use plastics, which block airflow and not surprisingly, can encourage a painful rash.
The good news is cloth pads tend to say fresher than disposable pads. That’s because their fabric breathes which allows moisture to evaporate. Less moisture means fewer bacteria to produce unwanted smells.

Disposables are typically made with a combination of plastics, cotton, synthetic fibers, and wood pulp. Conventionally produced cotton is one of the most toxic crops grown, using various pesticides and herbicides. These materials are then bleached with chlorine dioxide, creating polluting, harmful and bio-accumulative byproducts like dioxin, which not only end up in the environment but also remain in our bodies for decades. Add other synthetic chemicals and artificial fragrances, and it's not rocket science to work out there is potential for side effects like allergic reactions, hormone disruption etc.
We think of wood when we say Bamboo, but if fact Bamboo is a very soft, silky material and is a very fast growing, highly renewable. Bamboo isn't a target for pests, so isn't treated with chemicals like the cotton products.
Pre-wash your pads a couple of times before you use them for the first time to increase their absorbency.
After you've used your pads it's a good idea to rinse them in cold water to prevent staining.
Simply pop them in your bag and when your period has finished wash them all up at 60 degrees. Please don't use fabric conditioner as this will make your pads less absorbent.
Avoid direct heat - air drying is best.
You will probably need to change your reusable pad one to six times a day. Naturally, the heavier your flow, the more often you’ll have to change pads. The lighter your flow, the longer you can get away with between changes.
So, it's totally up to you how many you need to last you.
When it's time to change, just wrap them up and pop into on of Baba Boos 100% waterproof sanitary bag until you're ready to wash.
